What should I expect for my first visit?
Depending on the complexity of condition at hand, 1st visit appointments will vary from 45-60 min. The assessment and clinical workup process is one of the most important aspects to Great Lakes Spine & Sport. We need to come to a proper diagnosis in order to deliver you the proper treatment. Depending on the needs of the patient, the examination process may consist of: detailed history, vitals, neurological assessment, functional evaluation, orthopedic assessment, soft tissue assessment, and/or joint motion palpation. Proper treatment will then be administered following clinical workup.
What does treatment look like?
Follow up appointments are 30 minutes in length with 1-on-1 treatment with the doctor to do everything possible to speed up care. Most patients start noticing changes within their first day of treatment, and it’s very rare that people aren’t starting to notice improvements after just 3-4 visits.
What makes Great Lakes Spine & Sport different from other chiropractic clinics?
Contrary to traditional chiropractic clinics, we don’t make you come back multiple times a week for months on end, wasting both time and money. We are able to quickly identify the underlying cause, provide hands on treatment, and educate you on how you can be an active participant in your recovery process.

Do you take insurance?
Yes, Great Lakes Spine & Sport is currently an In-Network Provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield Traditional and PPO plans, as well as Aetna. We are able to work with them directly and process claims for you. While we are considered Out-of-Network with all other Insurance plans but can work with them indirectly by providing you superbills to submit to your insurance on your own. In the future, you will be notified if we become an In-Network provider with any other plans.
The reason we are an Out-of-Network provider with most insurance companies is that they do not cover services outside of the basic chiropractic adjustment. There are many other techniques and therapies imperative to the patient that they do not cover/reimburse. Just because you have health insurance, that does not mean everything is covered. It’s your responsibility as the policyholder to understand your benefits and we are here to help you understand your coverage.
In this case, you can also use HSA and FSA dollars towards payments. Additionally, we can create a superbill for your claims to insurance providers in which they may be able to send you a reimbursement check in the mail. We cannot guarantee they will apply costs of our services to your deductible, but this has been successful for many.
Why are you an Out-of-Network provider?
Great Lakes Spine & Sport is primarily a cash-based, physical medicine specialist clinic with the exception of Blue Cross Blue Shield Plans and Aetna. This ultimately gives patients more time with the physician and a more personalized experience that is not available through traditional insurance-based models of care. As stated above, it is unfortunate that the majority of traditional health insurance policies do not currently reimburse for prolonged patient visits and integrative care which makes Seppo Chiropractic effective and efficient in treating patients.
Because of this we also offer easy payment options for those with high deductible plans, out-of-network, and those without insurance coverage.
What if I don’t have any insurance? Is out-of-network care more expensive than in-network? Not necessarily. In fact, often it ends up saving you both money and time. If you have a high deductible, seeing an in-network provider would be around $250-350 for New Patient appointments and $100-150 for Return visits until your deductible is met. At Great Lakes Spine & Sport, oftentimes you can submit your costs toward your deductible while only paying $150 for New Patient appointments and $70 for return visits. This allows you to receive higher quality care, getting results quicker, having more 1 on 1 time with the doctor and ultimately getting the care you need while paying less in the long run.
What are your prices?
Treatment costs will depend on your plan benefits with insurance coverage. We offer complementary insurance verification for all new patients. Call us today so we may verify your coverage.
