Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician: Board Eligible Candidate

Dr. Christian grew up in Bluffton, Ohio, before attending Miami University of Ohio, where he studied and received his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (Exercise Science) and Health. While at Miami, Dr. Christian participated in Division 1 football and served as the team’s punter. This experience of partaking in college athletics at the highest level, combined with the desire to pursue healthcare, shaped the way in which Dr. Christian lives his life and molded his desire for a career to help others in the health field.

To further his education, he attended National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Illinois, for his Doctorate of Chiropractic degree. There, he practiced Chiropractic medicine in clinical rotations at the Salvation Army located in downtown Chicago. While in rotations, he also worked as a Chiropractic Assistant/Rehab Specialist at an office, where he was later hired as a Chiropractic Physician. He then decided to move to West Michigan to start his own practice.

Dr. Christian has extended his education with post-graduate education in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) to help further assess and treat patients in the most evidence-based and non-invasive way possible. He has also completed education through the Titleist Performance Institute in the Medical, Fitness, and Biomechanics tracks to help serve golfers of all kinds.

Dr. Christian believes that patient education should play a major role in treatment, and he enjoys not only helping patients understand their aches and pains but also developing individualized steps necessary to get them moving in the right direction.

Dr. Christian’s goal for every patient is to educate and empower them so they will be able to accomplish their goals, strive to be their best, and live a life to their fullest.

“I switched to Dr. Christian after trying several PTs and chiropractors, and wow! What a difference personalized care and treatment can make. When I first saw Dr. Christian, my back was at its worst, and I could hardly bend over. Now, I'm pain-free for 5 months and stronger than ever! GL Spine & Sport is now my forever sports rehab spot. I can't thank Dr. C enough for all he's done; I owe all my future sports endeavors to him.”

“I was referred to Dr Chris at Great Lakes Spine & Sport in hopes that I could find an alternative to continuing decompression treatments. And I’ve found it here. Dr Chris’s approach using functional movements and breathing techniques has been what my body needed - I’m living with reduced pain, increased range of motion, and the hope for a long life filled with activities that bring me joy.
Come give this treatment plan a try - you won’t regret it!”

“Dr. Christian Koch has been absolutely incredible to work with. Following a bad upper hamstring strain, he was able to get me back to exercise 2 weeks later. I also struggled with lower back pain all throughout my running career at the University of Michigan. Dr. Koch has been able to keep me as healthy as I’ve ever been so I can continue to run at a high intensity. I would recommend him to anyone!”
